I haven't posted anything new since the last week of January! And there's a reason, I have been working on a new army project that didn't really feel appropriate for this blog, but now it kinda does.
You might have seen the images of my Codex Harlequins army that is mostly built out of Dark Eldar minis. Well I decided to expand the concept a bit using the regular Eldar Codex, and make a tournament legal army. There's a big tournament coming up in April called GothCon which is one of Swedens' best tournaments with 120 participants and great organization. They use a secret subjective comp system so I figured since the Eldar codex is supposedly one of the weakest out there, and it's great being an underdog, I would build a fairly soft army using a crappy codex :) More of a challenge that way...
Anyway I started to play test a list that was based on what I had. I could use about 6-700p from my Harlequins army and only paint up roughly 1000p... I used what most Eldar players told me were good, the unkillable Falcon, Farseer, Jetbikes ands on... All failed me. They just didn't fit my play style and were actually quite boring to play with. The Falcon didn't do much except survive, I kept forgetting to use my Farseer and so on. I dropped them all and went for an all out Outflank theme with 2 units of Striking Scorpions. I added some War Walkers and all of a sudden the list was fun to play. Karandras was the icing on the cake and after a bunch of test matches I think I have something that is almost as fun as Dark Eldar to play!
It needs a little bit more tweaking to be perfect but is pretty much set. I had more Harlequins in the list but most had to be taken out to be able to fit the Striking Scorpions in. I kept some less strong elements just because they are heavily Harlequinish or I just like the look of them.
So a post that's a bit OT, I made a blog about my progress, it's in Swedish, but you can at least check out the images if you have the patience to click through all the pages.
Here are some samples of the new stuff:
